An-Najah National University Hospital (NNUH) is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the following position:

Biomedical Engineer

Overview

The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for supporting the inspection, maintenance, repair, calibration, and management of medical equipment throughout NNUH hospital and affiliated facilities. The role contributes to ensuring that medical devices are maintained in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, regulatory requirements, and NNUH hospital policies to support safe, reliable, and effective patient care.

The Biomedical Engineer works collaboratively with clinical departments, external service providers, and other hospital teams to support the safe operation, installation, testing, and lifecycle management of medical equipment. The position may require participation in on-call duties during evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing preventive maintenance, inspections, functional testing, and performance verification of medical equipment according to established schedules.
  • Assist in troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and maintaining biomedical equipment under the supervision of senior engineers.
  • Respond to equipment service requests and corrective maintenance activities as assigned.
  • Participate in equipment installation, commissioning, acceptance testing, and inventory registration.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate maintenance, repair, calibration, and inspection records within the hospital's Medical Equipment Management System (CMMS).
  • Support equipment inventory management, asset verification, and equipment labeling activities.
  • Assist in monitoring medical equipment performance and reporting equipment deficiencies or recurring failures.
  • Support senior engineers during equipment inspections, hazard notices, recalls, and safety corrective actions.
  • Assist in coordinating maintenance activities with external service providers and equipment vendors.
  • Provide basic technical support to clinical users regarding the proper operation and handling of medical equipment.
  • Assist in preparing medical equipment for preventive maintenance, calibration, repair, or replacement.
  • Support spare parts inventory activities, including receiving, storage, documentation, and stock monitoring.
  • Follow manufacturer recommendations, hospital procedures, and applicable safety standards while performing assigned duties.
  • Participate in departmental training programs, educational activities, and continuous professional development.
  • Maintain effective communication and professional relationships with hospital staff and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, infection prevention measures, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering.
  • Basic knowledge of biomedical equipment, electronics, and clinical engineering principles.
  • Basic understanding of preventive maintenance and troubleshooting concepts.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Basic knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is an advantage.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and respond to urgent technical situations.
  • Willingness to participate in structured training and competency development programs.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call duties after completing orientation and demonstrating competency.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with advances in medical technology.
